Richard Mascall

Richard initially trained as a design engineer at W.E.Sykes Limited, a leader in the manufacture of gear cutting machines and gear cutting tools, and obtained an OND in Engineering Technology at Solihull College of Technology (1978) and a HNC in Mechanical Engineering at Coventry Polytechnic (1980). In 1984 he changed direction and joined Grimley and Son as a trainee plant and machinery valuer since then he has held a number of senior positions including Bache Treharne equity partner and SHM Smith Hodgkinson Executive Director. He became a practising associate of the British Academy of Experts in 1995, a chartered surveyor in 1997 and also a full member of R3 Association of Business Recovery Professionals. After four and a half years at SHM he and his senior colleagues successfully completed on 1st December 2009 a management buyout of the Birmingham office to form MGR Appraisals. He has also undertaken work in Canada, Holland and Ireland.

James Gregory

James graduated from the University of Hull in 2001 with a BSc honours degree in Geography. Shortly afterwards he joined Bache Treharne as a trainee plant and machinery valuer in Birmingham. As well as plant and machinery valuations and disposals, James also operated webcast and online auctions. In 2004 James left Bache Treharne to work on behalf of global auctioneers offering valuation and auction services which saw him work throughout Europe and the USA. In 2006 he joined SHM Smith Hodgkinson and became a qualified technical surveyor in 2007. Along with Richard, he is a director of MGR Appraisals. James offers a practical commercial approach to understanding client requirements. He has a wide breadth of experience across all business sectors.
